    I run Outlook 2003 on Windows 7  64 bit PC.

    In the past no problems were there. But at the moment I have the following problems:

    - compacting data file: message: requested operation failed

    - what is worse: opening a separate pst file inmediately results in "outlook has stopped working".

    Same happens in safe mode.

    Change of compatibility settings did not resolve the issue. SP3 installed.

    As said: receiving and sending emails are ok.

    Any suggestions welcome.

    Hi,

    While compacting the PST file on the Outlook, there will be chances of corruption of PST file. So use the Scanpst to repair the PST file and try. If Scanpst does not work proper then you can use the PST recovery tool. This tool helped me to recover lost Outlook data from corrupted PST file when I too faced the similar situation like you.
