Intellitype Pro and MS Ergonomic Keyboard 4000

I am very disappointed with MS. For a long time I have been using the same keyboard. Windows does and automatic update and destroys my Intellitype Pro software that works with the keyboard and all the "extra" function keys no longer work. I tried for two days to replace the file that was lost but according to what I have found out, the complete file is missing from MS. I have tried everything and every version of the software but the same message keeps coming up as a fatal error.
I have been reading if others have had the same problem and a large number has. You can't communicate with support and if you call them you get someone in India. This problem has been going one, according to what I have read for more than a couple of years and it is always the same. MS leaves the problem up to the keyboard owner and has not resolved.
My question is: How is it that MS can create a keyboard like the one I have and not support the software for so long. I love the keyboard itself but there are several keys that I cannot use because of faulty software. MS doesn't even offer a "Fixit" file like they do with other problems. If the problem is not fixed by MS, I will begin looking for another keyboard that works properly by a company that IS NOT MICROSOFT.
