IE 9 - your browser has been upgraded - won't disappear

Hi all,
I have sysprepped a Windows 7 Professional 64-bit SP1 workstation and captured it with WDS. I have IE9 running on the machine.
After deploying the image to a fresh machine, i logged in, launched IE 9 and received the usual wizard for preferences, I save that and a new tab opens up "your browser has been upgraded". I click close as I don't care for such notification, close IE completely, relaunch IE and the same tab opens up with my home page.
I have seen a few people having this problem - they suggest changing the option in IE settings that says 'open only my first homepage'. That did nothing for me. I've also seen the registry change, done that too and it still comes up. I ended up uninstalling IE9 and going back to IE8. I don't have the issue with IE8.I am thinking of putting IE10 on, but I dread that once I sysprep it again, deploy it, I'll have the same issue. Can anyone help with my specific issue?
Thanks,
Christian
