I installed a game from steam and then the game didnt run all to well on my pc, so i uninstalled it. and when i did that, it messed with my directx. i have directx11 i have tried a million diffrent things. even reinstalling the game, uninstalling it, using diffrent directx installers, and for some reason no matter what i try (even when i bought a new game and it said that it was setting up directx, the problem still retained.) it doesnt give me an error report or anything whenever i use dxdiag, or start directx supported games. my pc hasnt had a problem with directx at all until now. im not sure what to do.

Why do you think that your problem involves DirectX?

Becuase, in the game, there was an option to use "Direct x9" or "Direct x10" After i switched it to use Directx10 it started having problems. and like stated above i have Directx11. Screen tearing keeps on happening on all my games, as well as this weird problem when certain parts of objects are see through. And, i know its directx becuase on Runescape theres an option to use "Directx or OpenGL" (as well as some 'default' option) on OpenGL (and defualt) its fine, Directx Is when i get screen tearing and the transperant textures.

That may be a problem with your graphics drivers, rather than DirectX itself.

Sometimes people will choose to run games in DX9 mode because it demands less of the hardware.

Speaking of hardware, what's yours? (CPU, graphics card.) If you post information about your hardware, you may get more meaningful help.

Graphics? (More important than the CPU.)

Device Manager, Display Adapter. There's a tab for Driver; mentioning the version number may be useful.

    ATI Radeon HD 4200

    Driver Version: 8.961.00

Looks like the most recent driver.

The HD 4200 is integrated graphics with your motherboard's chipset. I have no personal experience with it, but integrated graphics are usually poor for 3D games.

That doesn't explain why a game (Runescape) does OK with OpenGL, but not with DirectX.  Did it ever run OK with DirectX on your PC?

I don't know how good DXDiag is at identifying corrupt DirectX files. If something is broken there, the most relaible fix would be a clean re-install of the operating system. (A lot of work.)

    Hi,

Based on my research, please refer to Diagnosing basic problems with DirectX, try the steps and see how it works.

More information: How can I tell if a game will run on this computer?

    Hope this helps.

    Hi ,

Please download DirectX End-User Runtimes from the following link and install it on you local computer.
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109

Then please download the lastest ATI graphic driver from ati.com (version should be 12.4, not sure).

Please run dxdiag command and capture a screenshot of System Tab and Display Tab.

    Thanks.
