Brother Control Center 4 not loading

Hi,
I've just recently purchased a Brother MFC-J6510DW inkjet printer and I'm struggling to get the Control Center to open once installed.
I'm operating on Windows 7 64 Bit. Once the installation is finished, I can see the icons for Control Center 4 (CC4), yet when I try to open it, nothing happens! This is after attempting to run as administrator, updating the software from Brother (although I literally bought the printer this week so the CD should be up to date).
The other thing is that my girlfriend, who is also operating Windows 7 64, has installed CC4 and it works fine. This makes me think there might be something up with my computer?
If it helps:
Samsung Series 7 Chronos, Intel Core i7 Processor, 8GB Memory
Any help would be very much appreciated as I'm struggling to get much out of Brother!
Cheers,
Adam.

Support for third party software, including hardware drivers, is provided by the publisher of the software.
Suggest you contact Brother about your problem. Technical Support is part of the warranty service.
If you think there is something wrong with your Windows 7 OS, you need to provide detailed error codes. A memory dump can be analysed for poosible clues. Without detailed information it is impossible to tell you why third party software is not funtioning correctly!

Hey,
Thanks for the reply. I've emailed Brother but am yet to receive a reply. Unfortunately, when I try to open the program, there is no error code - likewise during installation; everything looks to have worked fine until I actually try to run the program. In terms of detailed information, what would be required for someone to perhaps speculate toward or even answer my question?
Cheers,
Adam

Ok...
Anyway, if anyone can actually help, after another attempted reinstall, I am now receiving a file error which states:
"The following error occured on the file 'C:\windows\SysWOW64\BroS482.rra'
The system cannot find the file specified.
(0x2)"
Would this suggest a problem with my system or the software? It is also worth noting that this has not happened in previous installation attempts, so this might not necessarily be the issue, but if anyone knows anything about this particular type of error then it might lead to some kind of solution.
Thanks.

*.RRA Files are created by InstallShield. These are files that are created in the Program Directory when the file that the
installation is trying to replace is locked. The file will be created with the first four letters of the real file name, followed by 4 random numbers and letters, followed by an extension of RRA. For example, if TBMAIN.EXE is in use at the time of the installation, a file named TBMA9F0B.RRA may be created in the program directory (or some other combination of letters and numbers following the "TBMA" portion of the file name). InstallShield will also place an entry in the Windows Registry to tell the computer to replace the locked file on the next reboot. Once the file is replaced by the RRA file, the RRA file will be removed. The above was found on the internet. I had never encountered a .rra file before.

Adam,
I just got off the phone with a Brother Tech support representative cause I have been fighting the same problem for weeks. They walked me through and got it working for me. I can tell you that I had to remove the "Dell" folder from the C:/windows/twain_32 folder. She told me to cut the Dell folder and paste it on the desktop. Then Control Center worked and I could scan. I don't know if you will have to follow the same process but for the first time ever in my experience with tech support for any company... the first solution they walked me through actually worked!! So I would recommend that!!!
Good luck!!
Steph

I had the same problem with my new Brother MFC-J435W and a new Dell desktop with Windows 7. The above solution described by Steph worked for me also.- Edited by greenangeleyes Tuesday, February 21, 2012 1:41 AM

I had the same non-service as you did, trying to use CC4 running on Win7 with my Brother DCP-7065DN. A lengthy conversation with customer service there ended on a bad note, with them claiming the problem was on my side -- which of course is true in a sense, but completely unhelpful! They had no suggestions on diagnostics or anything, they just threw up their hands.
So, I installed iCopy, a free scanner-control program, and print to CutePDF Writer, a free print-to-PDF driver, and that all works fine.
Printing, I'm glad to say, has never been an issue. Oddly, my wife's laptop, also Win7, never had an issue, CC4 works OK.

I do not use any of Brother's or HP's software for any of my printers/scanners etc.
I use the Windows driver to render the page from Acrobat or whatever program I am using.

I encountered this (or a similar problem) just today. I installed the Brother ImageCenter ADS2000 on an old Del XP machine at work yesterday and all was well. This morning I tried to run the Control Center, and nothing would happen--no error, nothing. I uninstalled, reinstalled, stood on one leg, etc, but kept having the same issue. Finally, it occurred to me that the program was behaving as if it were already running, so I checked the Task Manager > Processes tab and indeed found the Control Center process running. I cancelled this process, then tried to run the Control Center again, and it started right up. This is obviously not the same issue that everyone is having, but definitely worth a try if you encounter this issue.
