AnswerATI X800 XT driver problems

I have the latest Windows 7 RC build and for some reason whenever I start a game it says my video card (ATI x800XT) doesn't have drivers. Now i first used the windows update as when I asked the question on another forum that seemed to be the answer. So i tried that and sure enough there was an update for my video card so I downloaded and installed those but when I started a game the same thing came up. I decided to ignore it and run my game but it looked so bad I could not bare it, running off the software rather than the opengl whatever. So i decided to try an install the drivers from the cd that I got when I bought the card and that didn't work either. Came up with a message "Setup was unable to install. Try to setup your display adaptor with a standard VGA driver before running setup". So after that I went to go look for drivers but it seems ATI dosn't make any for the old cards anymore on Windows 7 so I just downloaded the latest Vista ones for the card. It seemed to have installed fine but when I rebooted I got nothing. Usually you get a little tray icon so I went to play a game same thing. Now I have had this card working perfectly on my old Windows XP. Does anyone have a solution to this problem or am I doomed to never play games?

So I did as you said. I didn't have a .net framework so I skipped that step. It didn't show up as installed so I couldn't uninstall from control panel but for some reason I couldn't install the 3.5 one. I took all the ATI drivers away and installed but I got this message now "Driver Install: the specified driver package was not installed for matching devices" maybe my card is just too old?

Hello, karizzma you could try to use the latest vista drivers for your 32bit or 64bit OS, windows 7 will use them, go to http://support.amd.com/us/psearch/Pages/psearch.aspx?type=2.4.1&product=2.4.1.3.17&contentType=GPU+Download+Detail&ostype=Select+an+Operating+System+(OS)+type&keywords=&items=20 and select vista for your OS and 64/32 bit, whatever your PC is running, to find out start > right click computer > properties, under system type,

    Hope I could help you!

Hey i did that and installed and I got two messages.

1: Could not load file or assembly 'MOM.Implementation, Version=, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken= ' or one of its dependencies. The version and publickeytoken did have numbers after them but I can't remember them.

2: Driver Install:the specified driver package was not installed for matching devices

When I checked the error log from the installation and it said the ATI display driver failed.

What can I do to fix this problem?

First you have to uninstall NET Frame work and remove all traces of it. Restart your PC.

Install NET framework 3.5 again from Microsoft which suite your OS. Restart  your PC.

Then uninstall ATI drivers and remove all traces of your ATI software. Restart your PC.

    Redownload http://support.amd.com/us/psearch/Pages/psearch.aspx?type=2.4.1&product=2.4.1.3.17&contentType=GPU+Download+Detail&ostype=Select+an+Operating+System+(OS)+type&keywords=&items=20

Make sure you get the right drivers for your architecture
