    Hello,

I recently installed some updates for Win7 (Home Premium) after which my Atheros AR5B93 network card stopped working. When I try connecting to a network it says "can't connect to network (limited connectivity)". When I open Ipconfig in command prompt it shows only some tunnel adapter which is displays as Media state... media disconnected. No IP adres or anything.

Here are some details about the laptop:

Acer Aspire 5542, AMD Athlon dual core M300 @2.00GHZ, 4,00 GB ram
OS: Windows 7 home premium 64bit.

Some of the things I have tried:
    - Different driver versions

    v8.0.0.363, 9.2.0.113 and 10.0.0.221  (from: http://www.atheros.cz/atheros-wireless-download.php?chipset=29&system=6)

    - Disabled any other software from msconfig and restarted

    - Used System Restore to try and roll back any changes made by windows update.

    - Ruled out network issues:
used a different laptop and my samsung galaxy S2 to connect to the same network and they can connect just fine.

I'm hesitant on re-installing windows because other users with this same issues have reported a fresh install of windows did not solve the issue for them.

I'm running out of ideas at the moment on how to possible fix this issue so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers,

    Robert

    Hi,

Windows update sometimes update driver, some driver may conflict with existing one or software that used them (like bundled soft in laptops/ pre-build pc)..

Usually by uninstall the updated and reinstall it will fix it. If it's useless you should start your PC under Safe Mode with network connection.

Also you should check if you set correct network adapter. Please locate at internet sharing center -->"change adapter settings".

    Regards.
