Read the title of this forum very carefully: Windows 7 Application Compatibility and note is does not state Windows XP!
The Windows XP forums are @ http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_xp
Please remember to click “Mark as Answer” on the post that helps you, and to click “Unmark as Answer” if a marked post does not actually answer your question. This can be beneficial to other community members reading the thread. ”

Wednesday, January 04, 2012 11:14 AMYes you are right I thought this was the forum for the application compatibity toolkit also. The reason is that I want to see if my Windows XP apps are compatible with Windows 7. The forum above will not help me with that as it is not for ACT 5.6 either. I will do some search to see if there is a specific forum for that.

Ahh carefull reading the title brought me to this forum after all
Use this forum to discuss application compatibility in Windows 7 and the Application Compatibility Toolkit
So if there is somebody that want to offer some help I would be verry happy.

Act won't install on the machine that doesn't have a .Net framework
You need to fix your framework first or install it if it is missing.
Wednesday, January 04, 2012 3:42 PMBut it does install it crashes and then uninstalls. We have .Net Framework installed version 1.1 , 2 SP2 and 3 SP2 , and 3.5 SP1 ..

"The following information is part of the event: [actdcsvc.exe] Framework is uninstalling because it encountered a fatal error."
From what i am seeing here your framework is corrupted and not working and as a result of that ACT is not working either.
Download this tool
Clean the computer up from all versions of the .Net Framework
Install .Net Framework
Install the Act again

Did that but still fails. I uninstalled all .Net framework versions and then installed .Net framework 3.5 SP1 and some hotfixes that follow after this install.

delete following key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Application compatibility toolkit
Reinstall ACT inventory agent

The key was not present. The uninstall cleans that key.
Tuesday, December 04, 2012 1:49 PMWas this problem ever solved? We are experiencing the same issue with our Windows XP machines.
