SQL Server 2008 will not install on my Windows 7 OS because the SQL Server 2008 will not run on a 64 bit OS.  Is there anyway around this?

If it isn't installing it's not because of 64 bit Windows. I have 32 bit SQL installed and running on 64 bit Windows. Run the SQL 2008 Service Pack 1 after installing SQL 2008.

I get the following message during the install of SQL 2008 on my 64 bit Windows 7:

    Rule "Edition WOW64 platform" failed.
SQL Server Setup is not supported in WOW64.  This setup program can only be run on a 32-bit system.

How did you get past this issue?

Is that a RC0 version of SQL Server 2008?
I am using SQL 2008 Express, but I will experiment with a virtual pc with a SQL 2008 version that I have as soon as I can boot into my Hyper-V.

What version of Windows 7 are you trying to install this on?
The list of supported versions has Windows 7 Professional as a minimum.

I am installing this on Professional.  It is on the list of approved OSs.  I am out of ideas.
