Answered Fingerprint Reader and IE8

I have a HP DV6700 notebook with the built-in fingerprint reader. It has always worked when using it to login into websites before. I have the DigitalPersonal Personal version 3.1.0.3276. Now, when I scan my finger, it asks which website I want to login to, then it loads IE8 and runs a dll in the address bar. At this point, it should load the webpage and login to the website, but it does not, it stops and leaves me with a blank screen. This happened before when I tested the IE8 in Vista, and it is again happening in W7. Everything is up to date. Does this happen to anyone else, what can I do to fix it.

    Thank you in advance

    Hi,

This issue should be a DigitalPersona software compatibility problem. I suggest you contact DigitalPersona Support to push them release latest version to resolve compatibility problem with IE8.

    Thanks.

GET the Upek Eikon reader and install the Windows 7 beta software from their site. Pick 32bit or 64bit download. WORKS GREAT in BOTH!!! Get rid of the old DPPM dinosaur!

I have a "Microsoft Wireless IntelliMouse Explorer with Fingerprint Reader" and when I try to use the fingerprint reader to open a webpage in IE8, IE halts at this:
    res://c:\program%20files\digitalpersona\bin\dpotssht.dll/qlinkload.htm#id=32

Is this something that might be fixed by a security setting in IE8 or is a software update likely required?  Any idea if Microsoft plans to resolve this or should I get the Upek Eikon reader?

I had this problem and I wrote about it.
Now it's fixed, at least for ACER!
I re-installed YESTERDAY (10 september 2009) the latest driver on the ACER site and the new release of IE8 on windows update now and it works with fingerprint! Thank you ACER, thank you MSFT (updated release).
    Good luck!

IE8 --> Tools --> Manage Add-ons --> Toolbars and extensions: select Digital Persona Personal extensions and click enable.
