Is it possible to deactivate a Windows 7 Technet key that I accidentally gave away with a PC?

Hello!
I sold a second-hand laptop recently and just now realised that it had a Technet key on it and I would like the key in question to be deactivated. I haven't been able to reach an agreement with the buyer so is there any way to deactivate the key? Obviously it should be possible for Microsoft? I promise to buy at least four Windows 8 licenses if somebody can make this happen :)
Thanks!
