    I can remember using an Invitation Id that a friend gave me, but not sure if it was to the Ecosystem or not, where can i get the .Beta_Program newsgroup, pls i wanna see if im eligible .

    I would also like to know about this, pretty sure I got an invite at some point or another, but I don't see the win7.beta_program group anywhere.  I'm pretty sure I even put a bug or two in there :)

    Uh.. Did you miss the bit about it being INVITATION ONLY...? That means you had to have been invited at the start. If you were a part of this, you'd know it.

    All eligible people will be getting a direct email in the next couple days.  If you want to check the newsgroups now, you can login to Microsoft Connect and go the “Windows 7 Beta Program” site.  This is secured only to members of Windows 7 Beta.  You can then click on “Newsgroups” on the left to find the .Beta_Program newsgroup to ask any questions you might have.  If you don’t have access to the “Windows 7 Beta Program” site on Connect you were not part of this program and are therefore not eligble.

    The only thing you need to do is apply.

    Follow the instructions on the following website.

    How to apply to become a beta tester for Microsoft

    When future beta tests are created, you will be contacted to fill out a Survey. New Technical Beta Testers are selected from participants in the survey.

    I'm also a little confused I have an email sent confirming my Windows 7 Beta evaluation (from January of this year) and another thanking me for participation later on. Is this the same as the Technical Beta Program?]
    If so: Unfortunately, I can't seem to find any newsgroup references anywhere (they may be buried under things). Also, there's no Windows 7 profile in my Microsoft Connect dashboard as their have been with other projects (where I usually go to look at newsgroups). I've never really used the newsgroup functionality outside of this interface but am trying to set it up in Live Mail to see if the win7 group appears.
    If not: Sorry for wasting your time and I applaud Microsoft's generosity towards the people who help make their software great!

    If you were a member of the Technical Beta Program, you would have received an ID key that identifies you as such and allows you access to resources that are restricted for the public. Also, if your participation is not on your dashboard, I would assume that you are not participating on the corresponding beta program. That has nothing to do with "generosity" or not.

    What happens when the ecosystems closed up following the release of the RCs and it's no longer found in the connect directory? Having moved from beta to RC it was deemed no longer needed until now.

    No it is not the same, the email you got was just a reminder to install / use the beta.

    When you click the http://connect.microsoft.com link in that article, go to the top of the connect page and clcik the Sign In link.

    Sign in with the same Live ID and password that you use to access these Technet forums. On the following page, click the Register for Connect today link. This should take you to a page where you can enter your personal contact information. Just follow the instructions there.

    Make sure that you keep and monitor the contact email address that you use when you sign up. Also, add @microsoft.com, @connect.microsft.com, and msftconn@microsoft.com to the spam White List on that email account.

    I don't know of any way to contact the beta program people directly?

    When you go to the Connect website, look at the top/right corner of the page and click the Help link. You should see the following menu.

    Your Participation Help

    When you go to the Connect website, look at the top/right corner of the page and click the Help link. You should see the following menu.

    Hi

    When you sign in to these Windows 7 forums, you use an email address that is associated with a Windows Live ID (formerly Passport) to login.

    Use that same login information for the connect websites. Click the   Windows Live ID Sign In Help if you have problems.

    Hi, I'm participating in many beta programs of Microsoft, latest being Office 2010. I had received a beta invitation of Windows 7 also, and downloaded it using the provided link. But, I've lost that invitation email, as I had deleted all past emails from my inbox. Is there any way, to get back my invitation ID, or if possible I provide my participation email id.

    Please advise the steps, if its possible.

    If you are already a Technical Beta Tester for any Microsoft program, then you already know how to log onto Microsoft Connect where you can get help.

    Wow i would be overwhelming if i get chosen by Microsoft,ok i think i registered myself in this program by this address http://support.microsoft.com/kb/833520 but im not sure if i registered in the right section could you guys please check it? my display name is the same Curious Kat ,one thing i need to change is my current email im logged in right now cause its actually disabled due to lack of activity could you guys please change for me or guide me through where i can change this profile email?

    Curious kat: There is nothing to "choose". There are no selections that will be made. If you can get to the private Windows 7 newsgroups on Connect, you're part of the Technical Beta program (meaning you were invited and you accepted) and you can take part in the offer. If not, then you are not part of the program and are not eligible. It is that simple. We cannot change or lookup anything. If you read this thread, Ronnie provides additional detail about Connect. Also, you may want to rethink providing your email address in a public forum.

    To all other posters: Please do not ask us to lookup anything or provide us with any specific information about you or your account. There is nothing we can do at this time. Either you are in the Technical Beta program on Connect or you are not.

    Hi Anthony i just posted that email cause i dont use that one for personal things but i already removed (edit) from there and thanks for that,i really apreciate your reply ,English is not my first language so sometimes i miss some points and ask bout things already answered sorry for that,reading Ronnie post im pretty sure that i registered in the right spot and am going to add those addresses to my trusted list !!!

    If you don't know what invitation this is, you didn't get the invite.

    People who get this invitation and sign up for the program get a free copy of win7.

    If you were invited by "the first one", accepted and participated on the Technical Beta program, you should receive an e-mail sooner or later that confirms your free copy and how to get it. That may take some time.

    While there certainly are some features that are in common between Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows 7, I wouldn't recommend this option. There are many aspects of Windows 7 that aren't in Windows Server 2008 R2 and vice-versa.

    As announced on the Windows Team Blog, there will be a Windows 7 eval edition available. More details will follow when they become available.
