- What specifically is not working, as it works perfectly fine for me?
- Mine also... No matter what changes I make to Screen saver settings or power settings, the screen savers do not work. Fresh Install of Win7 BTW.

- Hi Kev.
I managed to get it working by changing the default cut-in time for the screensaver from 10 mins to 5, 6, or whatever.
As long as it is not 10mins.. - Screensaver not working also, everytime I try to put one on, the screen goes blink and locks up.
Possible answer could be the 512 mb instead of the 1 gig they recommend.
Averatec 6200Series Laptop AMD Athlon XP 2400+ 512mb - Same problem, no matter what time I set it for it won't initiate, it will only work in preview.
I had the same problem. It turned out to be a problem with my Microsoft Wireless Keyboard and Mouse. I found some Beta drivers for them for Windows 7 and it fixed my problem.

Its great tht every where I look that this seems to help people... but what about the fact that SOME people use other brands of keyboards and mice. So with all due respect, Your fix doen't apply to me.
And now to top it off after "F@cking" with the screen saver now the machine won't STAY in Hibernation, I disabled the screen saver, but NOW the computer will wake up on its own -randomly. - Hi pochrist:
If you have your Win7 PC networked with other PCs you may be having a problem with the PC awakening by incoming network packets from a router or another PC. To see if this is the case you can do the following:
Open Device Manager and right click your network adapter, select Power Management and if the option is there uncheck the box saying something to effect allow this device to wake on LAN. I have since updated the LAN software and don't have that option listed but it was shown in the earlier software when I was having the problem. I don't remember the exact description of the option but I think you'll recognize it when you see it.
This seemed to help others with the problem of the PC not staying asleep. In my case, when I put the PC to sleep it would go to sleep and awake almost immediately because my Qwest modem/router was constantly contacting the PC. Hope this helps.
- Yes, this problem was rectified by disableing the That feature via the adapter, yet still the orginal problem of the Screen saver not working persists.

- Hi again pochrist:
What are you using as your screensaver? The default Win7 animation? As a long shot, try setting the screen-saver to "none", set the time 5 minutes, wait for 5 minutes, see what happens. Then re-start the PC and go back and set up a screen saver such as a simple message or photos that won't take a lot of graphics power and see if that works. If it does you can then try whatever screensaver you want and see if it starts working. This is a Lonnnnnnnnnnnnng shot!

I was noticing that the screen was not turning off - and after I saw this, I unplugged my Microsoft Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse - and lone and behold the screen powers off! Yeah! Now, if I only knew where you got the other driver?

www.EnhanceYourOutlook.com- CONFIRMED!!!
It Is the Microsoft Optical Mouse that is causing the problem. I personally was using Microsoft Optical Mouse 3000. I disconnected it...rebooted and WELLA...Screen Saver worked. Plugged it back in and rebooted.....WELLO...NO GO! There is apparently a problem with the default driver loaded in MS Windows 7. I connected a Microsoft USB Mouse and also a Logitec Optical mouse and everything continiued to work fine. The credit goes to cfour33 (above). He was correct. Now lets see if Microsft reads this post and comes up with a Hotfix? - TPLP10 -
MS Optical Mouse 3000? Is that the wired or wireless model...? My wired MS Optical Mouse 3000 works fine and the screen saver kicks in right on schedule. - This is the WIRELESS Optical Mouse Driver that has the problem. As stated above by cfour33. Wired is fine. THIS IS WIRELESS ONLY!
- I experienced the same problem using the MS wireless mouse/keyboard. Use Google and search "Microsoft Optical mouse drivers" to go directly to the download page for the drivers. After I installed them the issue was resolved. Not only did it fix the screen saver and power settings it enabled my system to hibernate which this motherboard would never do with XP or Vista. It also remedied a glitch that always present with the mouse scroll wheel acting erratic. FYI...I had previously installed the Win 7 beta version and this problem was not present. It was only after I had installed the Win 7 RC version that this became a problem.
- I had the same problem in Win 7 Beta and still have it with 7RC with a Logitech wireless mouse
- Im using Windows 7 Ultimate and Logitech Wireless USB mouse and screensaver not working
- I have this same issue, Pc not going to Screensaver (mystical w7) after 1 min, and not going to sleep after 20, this was not a issue untill recently when i reninstalled 7 OEM.....
Screen saver worked Previously before I repartitioned Drive and reinstalled, from what i have found out......
my ethernet drivers are the most up to date, My ATI graphics is the current releace from the site, all the APM sttings in bios set to S3, only think i have noticed Is my Logitech setpoint software for my key/mouse is not installed, and BTW this is 64bit AMD 3200+ with 64 bit W7 installed.
Last time my screensaver worked set point WAS installed, I will give this a try and let yas know.....
One possable solution to this issue as well is to remove all "OEM" drivers and let w7 install WDM drivers.......
I've done Tech support for HP/gateway/people pc/Charter and Verizon (bleh), and can tell ya the only things that will stop a PC from entering screensaver/sleep/hib are drivers and bios settings, the only drivers that will do this are:
1st and most important: GRAPHICS DRIVERS
2nd MOUSE AND KEYBOARD DRIVERS
3 ETHERENT/WIRELESS/MODEM DRIVERS that SUPPORT WAKE ON LAN, OR WAKE ON RING
4 BIOS SETTINGS, MAK SURE YOUR BIOS SUPPORTS ATLEAST APM S1
5 Monitor drivers
If all the above is up-to-date and drivers are supported by w7 there is no other reason other then hardware compatability or failure....
Peace out peeps
