My computer has frozen in safe mode. How do I return to normal mode. Have tried shutting down and restarting and going to a restore point without success. I use Windows7 32 bit and  Mozilla Firefox.

Try to press F8 right after the bios. But for your freezing computer it could be software or hardware... Too much possibility. You need to be more specific.

    Hi Kincumber,

Does this issue happen before? Can you enter into BIOS as normal?

Which anti-virus program are you running? Temporarily uninstall it and reboot into safe mode to check if it works.

In addition, also update your graphics driver and BIOS to the latest one.

    Regards,

    Miya

I have been searching through pages of "replies" and have to wonder, does anyone answer with possible solutions to these problems?  I see the normal press F8 which I must assume anyone would do if they had read any Safe Mode documentation.

I have the same issue with Safe Mode.  I have gotten in to Safe Mode to correct a software installation issue which occasionally has to be done.  After the correction which made the software functional, I discovered I could not exit Safe Mode.  Any attempt to change the setup or move to the "Boot" tab resulted in an error screen saying there was an issue and that the setup would revert to the Safe Mode state.  Unfortunately, when it did that, it also dropped the Network capabilities which are no longer available.

From there I used my Microsoft O/S Recovery CD only to be told that it could not be used because a USB problem was effecting the system.  One of the USB devices that had been attached to the machine had been removed illegally.  I thought I had been pretty diligent about using the "Safe to remove" option.  It also mentioned that there might be a failing CD/DVD unit (seen that before).  I replaced the DVD on a whim.  Still had the same problem.  I am on day five of the problem and can find no answers in any of the forums or Microsoft Tech sites.

Does anyone out there have a useable idea?  I have a recent partition image and Reserved System image but hate to try to use them.  I have tested the validity of the Rescue Media and the images when they were made.  Even though it is the full Acronis Plus package (which I have used for years) the times I have had to do a restore have not gone well.  File and data restores are great.  Not so good luck with images.  Any wonderful Christmas messages for me?

I hit F8 at startup and attempted to start in Normal Mode with no luck.  I then attempted to start with Last Known Good Configuration with the same results.  I then did a System Restore which worked.  You might want to try that.

Didn't work----neither did any other suggestion, including restore, for at least 6 hours.
