On my machine I am running Windows 7 SP1 64bit Home Premium. I am having an issue with my remote desktop session freezing up. I have noticed that it really only freezes when and information notification warning or error pops up. Once it pops up the session just freezes completely. I have to manually reboot to proceed. This issue does not occur when UAC pops up wich I thought was odd. I have updated my video drivers and my drivers for my network card. Is there a KB out there to resolve this issue with remote desktop? Or has anyone else had this problem?

Update: I have disabled the recording and audio in the local resources tab on the rdp config. Others say this helped them but it did not resolve my issue. I have found that when I stop the Windows Audio servce on my local machine then connect via rdp. I have no problems.. The Windows audio service is also disabled on our server to save on resources.. But this should not really matter. I hope this helps someone.- Marked As Answer by Ken Bush Thursday, September 20, 2012 8:33 PM

Shutting off needed services such as audio is not an answer. It is a work around.
I am having the exact same issue with my Windows 7 64b professional desktop. whenever the remote desktop (xp, 2003 TS, HyperV server, or other) issues a popup, error, etc. the remote screen freezes and I get disconnected. Rarely will it auto-reconnect. But when I try to log back into the disconnected session I then hear the audio of the previous error. Very weird.
If I use my XP desktop to login to these same RDP desktops, I have NO problems like this at all.
I don't like having to turn off my audio just to use RDP. Is there any other ways to fix this?
