I had a Win7 32 install on a 750GB RAID1 setup, but the RAID array degraded so I needed to backup my system and restore to a new array. I backed up the 750GB using System Image to a 1TB external drive, but have received error messages when attempting to recover. I am aware that system images can't be recovered to a drive that is smaller than the original install's partition size, but I'm trying to restore an image of a 750GB drive to a 750GB hdd, so I don't understand what the problem is.

Please see the topic below discussing this.  One suggestion (last post) might work but Arthur Xie's mention of having to reinstall from scratch and just opening the backup to copy over your files will probably be your best bet.

Alright, I've tried a few more things unsuccessfully. Using diskpart I cleaned and formatted the target drive, still no luck. It's a different error message though, now I'm told that no suitable drive could be found. Googling suggests that can still mean a size problem, hence my confusion as to why a 750GB image can't restore to a 750GB hdd.
