theres a setting in group policy but more importantly if the user is not a local admin on their machine UAC will prevent the user from installing a program also without admin rights.  Do you use UAC on the computers?

I dont know if you run into this situation

we, as admins,  would love to keep our ends users  as either users or power users......BUT THEN application vendors state "our users must have complete  admin privialges to drive C:   "  or somthing as crazy!!!!    they hate troubleshooting problems that may be rooted in privilages

so yes my users are in the local admin user group

    Hi,

How about using Administer Software Restriction Policies?

yep we run into that program here. We just recently were told by a vendor of ours that we have to run the program as admin or it won't work on the end user machine.  Pretty shitty of them if you ask me. Obviously they didn't write the program with win7 and security in mind.

The article also applies on Windows 7. You can find the following group policy in Windows 7.
