Vietnamese collation still not correct
I am dismayed to find out that the upcoming Windows 7, the RC version of which I installed and tested today, still has not got the Vietnamese collation right. It is the same error as in previous Windows versions. The previous attempt to fix the bug in Vista, which had initially been reported back in 2005, still had it wrong. We would hope that Microsoft would get it right in Windows version after Vista, but it seems it has been completely forgotten or fell by waysides during the course of Windows 7 development.
With the final release still about at least a half year away, can Microsoft correct this serious bug -- I'm speaking from the perspective of Vietnamese developers and users -- and get the fix into the final baseline? How can I bring this issue to the prompt attention of Microsoft Internationalization Team?

Người Việt tuy chỉ chừng 90 triệu dân, nhưng cũng đứng vào hàng G15 về ngôn ngữ trên thế giới và có sự đồng nhất cao. Tiếng Anh (English ) tuy đứng đầu nhưng tính đồng nhất thấp, có nhiều quốc gia lấy English làm ngôn ngữ hành chính nhà nước, còn dân chúng lại dùng ngôn ngữ và chữ viết riêng.
Đúng SQL Server, .NET Framework, Office, v.v. của Microsoft không làm được điều mà chúng ta ( và cả Microsoft ) mong muốn. Thậm chí các môi trường viết code ( IDE ) cho VBA trong Office còn không hỗ trợ ( support ) cả unicode; trong Vs2005 Sp1 có một vài control cũng vậy. Trong việc này chúng ta ( người Việt Nam ) chịu thiệt thòi nhiều nhất.
Nói xa một chút, nếu Borland có hỗ trợ unicode thì tôi và nhiều người khác sẽ ưu tiên cho các sản phẩm của Enterprise ( Borland ). Đáng tiếc Borland đã không làm như Microsoft trước đây. Do ở đáy giếng nên tôi không biết ai có thể làm đối thủ với Microsoft về một thị trường có 90 triệu dân : 90 triệu người với các quan hệ của họ trên thế giới.
Còn về phía chúng ta ? Thực ra số ký tự riêng của tiếng Việt không nhiều : aáàảãạ / ăắằẳẵặ / âấầẩẫậ / eéèẻẽẹ / êếềểễệ / iíìỉĩị / oóòỏõọ / ơớờởỡợ / ôốồổỗộ / uúùủũụ / ưứừửữự / yýỳỷỹỵ và dđ ( 12 * 5 + 1 = 61 ký tự, đã bao gồm dấu / thanh điệu; còn nếu chia ra chữ cái và dấu thì số lượng còn ít hơn nữa ). Trong VBA / Excel ( không hỗ trợ unicode ) đã có người viết được: BỘ TIỆN ÍCH TRONG EXCEL, chẳng lẽ trong SQL Server, .NET Framework lại bó tay hay sao ? Trước đây trong DOS, VietRes đã làm được việc nhập xuất chữ Quốc ngữ rồi kia mà ! Chúng ta thiếu sự đồng thuận và nghị lực trong việc này.
Đến hôm nay, dưới mắt Microsoft, Việt Nam là thị trường nhỏ so với nhiều Quốc gia khác ( dù những nước đó dân số ít hơn, chữ viết khó hơn Việt Nam ). Họ có nhiều thị trường khác, còn chúng ta sao không chung tay ( hoặc đơn lẻ ) làm việc này, mà ngồi chờ đến Windows 7 + i, ôm cây đợi thỏ( , cho đến khi giàu có rồi mới làm ) ? - khắc phục lỗi Vietnamese Collation
Lỗi này tồn tại từ rất lâu rồi, nhưng Microsoft vẫn chưa sửa, mong Microsoft sớm sửa lỗi này cho người dùng việt Nam
