    Hi,

My Dell laptop shuts down once I put in the password and click enter. It restarts and asks to repair or start normally. Repair is showing it's loading windows files and then log on screen appears. If log in the entire scenario reoccurs. Tried using Safe Mode with Networking. I was able to log in once and then the issue reoccurs. Any assistance is highly appreciated.

You might be able to fix your problem by using System Restore. Here is how it works:
    1. Keep tapping F8 during the early boot phase.
    2. Select Repair from the menu.
    3. Select an admin account, then enter its password.
    4. Select System Restore when prompted.
    5. Set Windows back to a point before this problem occurred.

    Hi,

As per the suggestion I performed a System Restore. It was successful and I was able to log in. I was fine for ten minutes and suddenly a blue screen appears with an error message and system was shut down.

I tried performing restore again. It comes up with a blue screen again with the following message on screen.

A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down prevent damage to your computer.

    PROCESS_IITIALIZATION_FAILED

If this is the first time you have seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. if this screen appears again, follow these steps:

Check to make sure any new hardware or software is properly installed.

If this problem continue, disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use safe mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press f8.

You should try different System Restore points. If this does not help then I recommend you start a new thread under the heading "Laptop BSOD" in order to attract the attention of respondents who know how to deal with a BSOD (which I don't).

Started in Safe Mode and deleted boot.cache as mentioned in the kb link above. Tried installing Windows from USB drive. While expanding files it comes up with the error code Error 0x80070570. Just couldn't resolve this problem any way. Please find a better way of resolving this.

The error code reference at your link above is not the same error code you gave before.  The error code given is STOP: 0x000000F4.

You stated before your error code was STOP: 0x0000006B

Microsoft has posted a KB with information for troubleshooting error STOP: 0x0000006B at the link I provide before: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/981833

You need to read the information on that page for help with your problem.

The link provided above didn't resolve the issue. I have deleted boot.cache file and tried reinstalling new OS from USB Flash drive. While installing it returns an error saying some windows files are missing. I can use the same USB to install OS on another laptop without any issues.

    Hi,

Boot the computer in safe mode and check the event viewer (System and Application) for errors & warnings and post it.

Then you must get the hard disk checked or replaced.  Windows cannot fix a hard drive nor compensate for hard drive failure.

Take you laptop to a computer repair shop or contact Dell if it is still under warranty.

Contacted Dell India Support. The machine didn't even boot. Ran Dell Diagnostics which failed to take the keyboard input for y/n option. The support personnel suspected a motherboard issue and is happy to replace it with a new one. Quite fortunate to have it replaced for free as the Warranty expired  couple of days ago. Dell gave an exception as there was no case lodged previously for this laptop. Will put a final update once the onsite Dell technician visits my place today.

    Hi All,

I got the issue resolved. A Dell support engineer visited my place yesterday and replaced the mother board and RAM. I have installed the Operating System and everything went smooth.

The engineer concluded that there was an issue with mother board as well as RAM.

Note : Dell has provided this service free of cost considering my machine under warranty even though it got expired two weeks ago. This was made possible only because there was no case registered for this particular machine. This may be helpful for some.
