    Installed ancient NVidia MX 200 Graphics card latest XP driver using XP compatibility mode.  Works OK so far!

    W7/7000/32bit

    ... It's OK with basic usage but unfortunately W7 BSODs with the Nvidia driver if hardware acceleration is used.

    try turning down the Hardware acceleration slider and see if that helps.

    Right click the desktop, choose SCREEN RESOLUTION.
    Look for "ADVANCED SETTINGS"
    Choose the troubleshooting tab
    Click "CHANGE SETTINGS"
    Move the bar left untill Direct 3D is disabled

    Thanks Sanginius - that resolved the issue - now I can at least set the refresh rate so that the screen doesn't flicker
