General DiscussionMicrosoft MN-730 non-functional in Win 7

I've got it working in Vista x64, but for some reason it doesn't work in Win 7 x64. I've tried to look up how it's working in Vista but I think it worked out of the box.

Either way it's a little odd that a MS supplied networking card doesn't work in Win 7, even if it was discontinued a few years ago.

Has anyone else managed to get any of the Microsoft cards working in Win 7?

Got it working finally, if you head to this link and download the driver, unzip it to the Win7 root directory, then boot into Win7 and find your Network Adapter, if you've already tried to install the MS branded MN-730 drivers, uninstall them. Go to Update Drivers, and then tell it to look for a specific file

After that prompt when you get the list of drivers for all the different manufacters tell it you 'Have a disk' and point it to the folder where the drivers unzipped. It'll take a second and show you a list. Select the Broadcom 802.11 a/b/g driver that's digitally signed, you'll get a prompt telling you it can't verify the drivers work with the hardware and ask if you want to continue. Tell it us and then the drivers will install and you'll be able to use your MN-730 as a network option in Win7 x64

    Hi,

I have a 730 and would like to get it running with Vista on a friend's computer. Before I go over to her place and spend some fruitless hours trying to do an install, I would like to know if you remember whether you used the install CD to get it running. According to the MS Vista compatibility website, it is not supposed to work.

    Thanks in advance

    Thank for the instructions Scudley.

    It worked perfectly.

To anyone else who read this post, be sure to follow Scudley's instructions to the T.
Follow them exactly and be sure to choose the "Broadcom Corp" driver and ensure you choose the right driver for your modem.

Thank you and you saved me a ton of money from not buying another PC adapter driver.
