I just built a new computer with a fresh install of Win 7 Professional x64. I'm using a Microsoft Wireless keyboard 800 and 1 wireless Microsoft Mouse 3500. On my laptop these devices work perfectly fine and show only 1 icon.
On my new Win 7 machine, the wireless mouse is jumpy and sometimes the keyboard doesn't respond right away. I've tried uninstalling the devices but they keep reappearing on a restart. I've also installed the latest driver for the Microsoft Mouse 3500. I should only being seeing 1 Wireless keyboard 800 icon and 1 mouse icon. Not double. Any ideas?

Hi,
We may try to disable all USB controller and reinstall them during rebooting the system.
First, please disconnect all USB devices and then perform the following steps:
1. Click "Start" button, type “devmgmt.msc” (without quotation marks) in the “Search” bar and press "Enter". Click “Continue” if necessary.2. In Device Manager, double click to expand "Universal Serial Bus controllers", right click on the Host Controller, click "Uninstall" and click "OK".
3. Repeat the step 2 to uninstall all items under "Universal Serial Bus controllers".
Then, restart your computer and Windows 7 will reinstall all USB controllers automatically.Kim Zhou

Monday, June 18, 2012 2:08 AMWell, after I removed my first Host controller, I lost access to my keyboard and mouse thus I couldn't remove the second one. After restart, Win 7 now added a Wireless mouse 1000 icon to the input device list. I don't even have a wireless mouse 1000. I have the 3500.

Hi,
Do you have any PS/2 mouse or keyboard? If so, please use this device to remove the original USB controller.Kim Zhou

I have a range of USB devices and there is a shadow HID for the keyboard and another for the mouse etc
that is the way the driver stack works
