If the reports are the issue, keep in mind that those might change from OS version to OS version and from the specific tool you use to monitor these values to another tool (may these tools be part of the Windows OS or third-party). If you suspect a real performance issue, you could monitor for a certain time the green stack in Task Manager: If it continuously displays a memory usage near the upper limit of the graph, you might consider to increase your installed RAM. With 3 G usable out of 4 G, this should only happen if you use applications that are heavy memory-consuming and use these apps frequently.<br/>For additional, not too-technical information I recommend a look here: <a href="http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929605/en-us">http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929605/en-us</a>.<hr class="sig">Mobile AMD64 3000+, VIA Apollo K8T800 chipset, 1 G RAM, ATIRadeonMobility 9700, 20x DVDRW, C:XPSP3 (55G),D:WIN7 (25G),F:DATA (250G)Fri, 12 Jun 2009 09:18:30 Z2009-06-12T09:18:30Zhttp://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7itprohardware/thread/9992bde2-0e3c-47b8-b6a4-3177e7d9ca7a#2af475d1-a629-4caf-aa5f-78d030099cc9http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7itprohardware/thread/9992bde2-0e3c-47b8-b6a4-3177e7d9ca7a#2af475d1-a629-4caf-aa5f-78d030099cc9Frank Castlehttp://social.technet.microsoft.com/Profile/en-US/?user=Frank%20Castleram questionboth i upgraded to 8bg of ram it shows 8 gb installed 3 usable wth he is a screen shot to show u<br/><br/><br/><a href="http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y186/safrankcastle/Untitled.jpg">http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y186/safrankcastle/Untitled.jpg</a>Sat, 04 Jul 2009 00:58:19 Z2009-07-04T01:00:28Zhttp://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7itprohardware/thread/9992bde2-0e3c-47b8-b6a4-3177e7d9ca7a#9a058186-037e-4f8a-8a5d-6b00d4faffd2http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7itprohardware/thread/9992bde2-0e3c-47b8-b6a4-3177e7d9ca7a#9a058186-037e-4f8a-8a5d-6b00d4faffd2Frank Castlehttp://social.technet.microsoft.com/Profile/en-US/?user=Frank%20Castleram questioni upgraded to 8gb of ram still states that only 3gb is usable  incase anyone cares its  <div><br/></div> <div><br/></div> <div><br/></div> <div>4x2gb pc2 6400 ocz reaper hpc edition</div> <div>msi k9n platinum</div> <div>pci ex soundlaster fatl1ty sound card</div> <div>amd64x2 6000+</div> <div>ati hd 4350 </div>Sat, 11 Jul 2009 16:24:48 Z2009-07-11T16:24:48Zhttp://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7itprohardware/thread/9992bde2-0e3c-47b8-b6a4-3177e7d9ca7a#826ae5cb-938f-4cbf-b2e6-60e5c4f45f92http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7itprohardware/thread/9992bde2-0e3c-47b8-b6a4-3177e7d9ca7a#826ae5cb-938f-4cbf-b2e6-60e5c4f45f92JimR1http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Profile/en-US/?user=JimR1ram questionEnter the BIOS, look for a setting called Memory Remapping, and enable it. On some motherboards this setting is needed to enable Windows to see more than 3 gb of RAM.<hr class="sig">Jim - MVP Windows Live - Forum Moderator - Live One Care - Live Mesh - Microsoft Security EssentialsSat, 11 Jul 2009 17:51:46 Z2009-07-11T17:51:46Zhttp://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7itprohardware/thread/9992bde2-0e3c-47b8-b6a4-3177e7d9ca7a#e1c65827-1e7e-422f-9955-256f60954520http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7itprohardware/thread/9992bde2-0e3c-47b8-b6a4-3177e7d9ca7a#e1c65827-1e7e-422f-9955-256f60954520Sanmartinhttp://social.technet.microsoft.com/Profile/en-US/?user=Sanmartinram questionOne thing you could do to track the causes down, is going to Device Manager -&gt; View -&gt; Resources by connection -&gt; Memory, looking if there are devices listed below FFFF FFFF (4 GB). If so, you must use the &quot;Memory Remap&quot; function (if there is one) in your BIOS, like said above, or the access to your &gt;4 GB memory will be blocked, as RAM is only usable as a contiguous space.<hr class="sig">Mobile AMD64 3000+, VIA Apollo K8T800 chipset, 1 G RAM, ATIRadeonMobility 9700, 20x DVDRW, C:XPSP3 (55G),D:WIN7 (25G),F:DATA (250G)Sun, 12 Jul 2009 09:40:43 Z2009-07-12T09:40:43Z
