    I have a Photosmart 8250.

For Win7 X64, I use the drivers included with Win7. (That's what HP recommends.)

In the past, I was able to install the Vista X64 drivers by expanding the archive with 7zip (the .exe is really a self-expanding archive) and running the installer in compatibility mode for vista, but the last time I tried it, I ended up with the drivers from Win7 anyway.

I haven't used any of the other software that the HP installer includes.

    Hi 60 KKP,

According to Windows 7 Compatibility Center, Photosmart 8250 is compatible with Windows 7. Please refer to this article provide by HP and see if the issue can be resolved: Installing the Product with the USB Cable and Using the Driver Located in the Windows 7 Operating System.
