This post says says that the latest drivers should automatically be downloaded for this camera when it's connected.

    Hello,

Add to Mark's thread, you might go to Device Manager, right click your camera device in the list and select Update Driver Software; then click Search automatically for updated driver software.

Note: Drivers on the Windows Update site are directly provided by hardware manufacturers. Microsoft tests drivers in various environments before they are published; however, we cannot guarantee all drivers will work on all hardware platforms as there are too many different models, although their hardware ID are the same as the standard version. In some cases, due to hardware modifications by different manufacturers, the driver updates may cause some error.

If it does not work on your issue, I'd suggest you installing the Vista driver in Compatibility mode. Remove and rescan that hardware device in Device Manager, right-click on the driver executable/installer file -> Properties and select the Compatibility tab; click the checkbox before Run this program in Compatibility mode for option and select Windows Vista in the list-down box; then try installing the device driver via Run as administrator. In addition, you can use the Windows XP driver for testing.

Meanwhile, please understand that Windows 7 is a new operating system and whole driverstore has been reprogrammed; you might wait or push the device manufacturer to upgrade its driver. Thanks for your time and understanding!

For more details, please look at the first Sticky thread at the top of this forum.

What can I do if my hardware does not work?

This will give you some guidelines.

    Good Luck!

    Andy

Did you solve the problem? the camera works?
I've the same problem, drivers & software install correctly, but, in the moment when I try to use the webcam, it disconnect from the system

If I try to use it from a different program than the logitech one, it starts a loop of connect/disconnect until I close the program.

Any ideas I can solve it?

    thanks

According to Logitech, the Quckcam Orbit AF and Quickcam Orbit MP are both supported in Windows 7:

They don't have the drivers posted on the MP link, but the Logitech Webcam Software (LWS) posted for the AF should work fine for both.

Unfortunately that did not work Mark. Thanks for the try!

I have installed both the Vista drivers for the Acer Orbicam (from the Acer website) and the Quickcam driver from logitech. They both identify this integrated camera on my 5670 laptop (both the 5670 and 5630 use the same web cam), however whenever I try to use the camera or turn it on it will not work.

Ahh, I see.  It's an Acer OrbiCam, not a Logitech Orbit Camera.  Still downloading the drivers, so I can't tell if they are the same.

Does the camera appear in device manager?

Have you tried using an application like Windows Live Messenger, or are you just using the Acer-provided application?

Yes it is the Acer Orbicam, sorry about the confusion. It is made by logitech and called the orbicam, but it is integrated into my laptop.

Yes it appears in the device manager, and when the said drivers I  mentioned are installed it looks to be properly installed.

I have used both types of applications, web based using macromedia flash, windows live messenger, and the acer provided software suite. However one thing I have noticed is that when a program tries to access the camera the device manager acts like the camera is disconnected then reconnected. The software either Windows messenger or macromedia identifies the camera, it just cannot communicate with it for some reason.

     Proposed Answer
Today i've solved this issue (on Windows 7 Acer notebook).
    My steps were:
    1) Deinstall all software
    2) Remove Acer OrbiCam device with its drivers
    3) Reboot system
    5) Install software. Skip last step.
    6) Manually install driver (point on "c:\Program Files\Logitech\QuickCamWebInstall\Drivers" and check "include subfolders")
    7) Everything should work

In my case first time i ran logitech software it didn't show me video stream but next time all worked like a charm.
    Hope it will help you.

PS I spent 4 hours on it :(
