I have an older Sony Vaio FS38GP that has been running Windows 7 RC1 just fine.  Today I've brought a copy of Windows 7 Home premium and did a clean install which has been all good except that now Windows 7 does not recognise my display adaptor which is a Nvidia Geforce Go 6400.

As I said it worked fine with Windows 7 RC1 - anyone got any ideas?

Sony Asia Pacific don't seem to have released many if any Win 7 drivers yet on their official site.

There are drivers for the Geforce Go 6400 at the Microsoft Update Catalog:

    http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/Search.aspx?q=go%206400

I expect they'd be available directly through Windows Update.

    Supported languages: Arabic , Chinese (Simplified) , Chinese (Traditional) , Czech , Danish , Dutch , English , Finnish , French , German , Greek , Hebrew , Hungarian , Italian , Japanese NEC , Korean , Norwegian , Polish , Portuguese (Brazil) , Portuguese (Portugal) , Russian , Slovak , Slovenian , Spanish , Swedish , Turkish.

You can try manually updating the driver via the Device Manager:

Right-click the display adapter (Standard VGA Graphics Adaptor) > Update driver software >  Browse my computer for driver software > Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer > Have Disk > then "Browse" to the folder where you extracted the drivers and select an .inf file > OK, and continue with the installation

thanks for that.  When I download, extract and run I get the error message "the NVIDIA setup programme could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware.  Setup will now exit".

Do you think this is because the display adaptor is not even showing up in Device Manager?  And if so, what do I need to do to remove "Standard VGA Graphics Adaptor" and/or get Win 7 to recognise the Nivida adaptor?
