Findind a Working W7 Sound Driver
- Where can I find a reliable Sound Driver for Windows 7? Currently I have a microphone that doesn't work but I do have sound. It shows no recognition that a microphone exists and I suspect this is due to my Sound Driver.
I am not sure how I can correct this or whatever but I would really like some help to get this working at 100% instead of 50% (Just sound)

First, I would like to confirm the following questions:
1. Is there an exclamation mark or question mark in Device Manager?
2. Can you get sound after replaing another Speakers or Microphone?
At this stage, please go to Device Manager, right click your hardware device in the list and select Update Driver Software; then click Search automatically for updated driver software.
Note: Drivers on the Windows Update site are directly provided by hardware manufacturers. Microsoft tests drivers in various environments before they are published; however, we cannot guarantee all drivers will work on all hardware platforms as there are too many different models, although their hardware ID are the same as the standard version. In some cases, due to hardware modifications by different manufacturers, the driver updates may cause some error.
If it still does not work on your issue, I'd suggest you installing the Vista driver in Compatibility mode. Remove and rescan that hardware device in Device Manager, right-click on the driver executable/installer file -> Properties and select the Compatibility tab; click the checkbox before Run this program in Compatibility mode for option and select Windows Vista in the list-down box; then try installing the device driver via Run as administrator. In addition, you can use the Windows XP driver for testing.

- You need to provide a bit more info before we could help you.
Do you have the little speaker down by the clock?? If so then right click it, do you see "Recording devices" listed??
If so click it, does it list the Mic?? if so does it say Default device / not plugged in???
If it lists the MIC clcik it once and then select Properties, near the bottom of the general tab see "device usage:" Make sure it is set to "Use this device (enable)"
If it is not there we need the vendor ID (Make / model) of the sound card (chipset if onboard). I do have the speaker.
I right clicked recording devices.
I come to a window under the recording tab saying "No audio devices are installed"
I am attempting to find the chipset I am running. I believe it is Intel(R) 975X... that is what I see in device manager here.

975X is an Intel motherboard chipset. The onboard sound is something else.
If you can supply the exact make and model of your PC (If it's appliance PC, like HP or Dell) or similar information for your motherboard (if it's not an appliance PC), someone may be able to direct you to better drivers for your sound device.
(Tools like Belarc Advisor van idnetify the motherboard, if necessary. They may also ID the sound device, as long as there are any sort of drivers installed for it.)I am not sure how to gain this info actually if you could just put a little step by step in?

Edit: I have done this whole process with no results. with any mode I set it in. I have not had a chance to try the XP compadibility mode so far... Curious should I grab the XP version of the realtek if I wanna try this compadability?

Please take your time to install the Windows XP driver for a test. Meanwhile, please understand that Windows 7 is a new operating system and whole driverstore has been reprogrammed; you might wait for another period of time till the vendor company to upgrade their device driver.
