AnswerWindows 7 RC-Bluetooth

Recently, I tried setting up the bluetooth on my Gateway NV52.  However, when I attempt to enable it, nothing happens accept getting the bluetooth symbol with a red x next to it.  There is nothing in the control panel, system tray, or device manager that would even indicate bluetooth even exists on my laptop.

I am running the Windows 7 RC, which I've read is the cause of this problem.  I've researched it a great deal and have not found a solution for Gateway laptops in particular.  Yes, I have attempted to install the new  drivers from gateway site, but during install and error comes up saying no bluetooth device has been found.  I've never attempted to use bluetooth since installing windows 7 RC, but it used to work on vista.

Anyone have any ideas to try and fix this?

    Thanks,

    Pat

    Hi,

Please go to Gateway site and download Windows 7 compatible driver.

Note: before installing the bluetooth driver, make sure that you turn on the bluetooth. Generally, you can press Fn+Bluetooth keys to turn it on.

    Hi,

    Thanks for the reply Dale.

I have exactly the same problem.  As Pat said, I CANNOT turn on the bluetooth.  Without turning it on, I can't install the driver.

Pat or Dale, do you have any ideas on how to turn ON the bluetooth?

    Thanks

    Santosh,

I've now installed the final version version of Windows 7 and still no bluetooth.  I've done a lot of research on the topic and nothing has worked.  I'm clueless.

    Hi,

I spoke to Gateway support, who sent me to some third party because this is a refurb system, who said that this model did not come with Bluetooth.  I have a NV-5214u.  I believe that to be correct, since almost all the pages I have found online do not list this model has having bluetooth internally.  I think the button (Fn+F6) and the light exist for those models that use this case.  I did find one yahoo page that said that s/he bought an internal bluetooth off of ebay for their NV52.  (~$10)

I am okay with this resolution as I have never used bluetooth on any of my laptops.

The only weird thing is that Pat says bluetooth worked on Vista, and stopped working on Windows 7.
