Tuesday, January 15, 2013 5:00 PMi have a laptop i use for home and work- is there a way to setup a work ip (static) and a home ip (dhcp) on the same wireless card, without having to switch them all the time?
Tuesday, January 15, 2013 6:49 PMYes. If you go to Start -- Control Panel -- Network Connections and right click on the Wireless NIC and go to Properties. From here scroll down to "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)" and just highlight it (don't uncheck the box) and click on properties. From here go to the Alternate Configuration Tab and select the radio button "User Configured". You can now enter a static IP address. What will happen is the wireless will look for a DHCP Server which it will find when you are at home and it will connect without issue, when at work it won't find a DHCP server and thus the Static IP you just configured will kick in.
Be kind and Mark as Answer if I helped.
