    Hello

I installed windows 7 the other day on my HP Dv9000 Laptop and everything seems to work fine. I checked device manager and I saw under “other devices” 2 base System devices doesn’t have installed drivers.

    Base System Device #1:

    Device Function Summary

    Manufacture: Unknown

Location: PCI bus 7, device 9, function 2

Device status: The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)

When I go to driver details-property-Hardware Ids The values are:

    PCI\VEN_1180&DEV_0843&SUBSYS_30CC103C&REV_12

    PCI\VEN_1180&DEV_0843&SUBSYS_30CC103C

    PCI\VEN_1180&DEV_0843&CC_088000

    PCI\VEN_1180&DEV_0843&CC_0880

    Base System Device #2:

    Device Function Summary

    Manufacture: Unknown

Location: PCI bus 7, device 9, function 3

Device status: The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)

When I go to driver details-property-Hardware Ids The values are:

    PCI\VEN_1180&DEV_0592&SUBSYS_30CC103C&REV_12

    PCI\VEN_1180&DEV_0592&SUBSYS_30CC103C

    PCI\VEN_1180&DEV_0592&CC_088000

    PCI\VEN_1180&DEV_0592&CC_0880

Anybody knows where to look for these drivers? Any help would be much appreciated.

You might try asking the HP notebook experts in the HP Notebook Forum,

    Hello,

The first device 'PCI\VEN_1180&DEV_0843' is Ricoh 5-in-1 Card Reader. The other is Ricoh Memory Stick Host Controller.

You can download the Ricoh driver from the following link:

    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-46833-1&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=1842189&os=2093&lang=en

If this does not work, try to run install the driver via windows update:

    1. Open Device Manager, locate the problem devices.
    2. Right click a device and choose "Update Driver Software"

Thank you so much, Thomas.  I have a Toshiba Satellite A-215-S7437, and I have been trying to figure out what in the world those two unknown "Base System Device's" were.   If anyone else is having the same issues with a Toshiba, the devices (with their true names) show up as any of the following...

Unknown Base System Device (PCI bus 20, device 6, function 2) = Ricoh SD/MMC Host Controller
Unknown Base System Device (PCI bus 20, device 6, function 3) = Ricoh Memory Stick Controller
Unknown Base System Device (PCI bus 20, device 6, function 4) = Ricoh xD-Picture Card Controller

Toshiba's Support page has the drivers for download, as long as you know SPECIFICALLY what you're looking for.  And now you do.

This helped even though I have an Acer 7720 and installed 7 Pro x64.

    Thanks!
