    i keep getting a pop up saying "your copy of windows will expire in 0 hours" and randomly shuts down. this is a legit copy of 7 RC and it is activvated. any ideas? i apologise if this has been asked before. i did a search first however there was an insane amount of hits and after 12 pages i gave up..lol

    Are You sure the system date of Your PC is correct
    and not somewhere after Jun 1 2010?

    Maybe you have remnants of a prior 7 Beta installation on your disk? That one is about to expire.

    nope clean install on a new HD. i am so puzzled.

    Well, assuming (1) you downloaded your copy from Microsoft, (2) we're talking about the same version (6.1.7100), (3) all of your important system files (f.e. \windows\system32\cmd.exe) show the date 04/22/2009, and the problem remains, I would download the RC again and reinstall it again, reformatting the whole drive in the process. If one of the points isn't the case, I would do just the same thing.

    build 7000. yes i downloaded my copy from microsoft and used the key that was given to me when i clicked  "download"

    Whoops, there it is.

    RC is build 7100. Do as Sanmartin suggests above.
