Windows could not parse or process the unattend answer file

sccm 2007 sp2 r2, windows 7 64 bit, all dell shop.

I created an image, uploaded it to sccm. I can deploy to 12 other dell model systems fine, but on the latitude E6420, I get this error during the after os Installed and setup windows and configure.

“Windows could not parse or process the unattend answer file for pass [specialize] The settings specified in the answer file cannot be applied. The error was detected while processing settings for component [Microsoft Shell Setup]”

Unfortunately I cannot send you the log files because of the continual rebooting loop.

This xml I am used to capture image and using deploy image under apply operating system.

Have you validated the answer file in wsim?

You can also look for the error in the installation log setupact.log in C:\Windows\Panther

once i click ok on this error, system rebooting, so i can't collect log files.

So, i ran validation. it came with 4 errrors and 2 warning.

Now the errors with display was empty settings, so i had remove it and validated again, got 2 warning left.

IEWelcomeMsg and SkipUserOOBE is deprecated.

IEWelcomeMsg has False value. i have tried to change True plus add DisableFirstRunWizard=True and DisableWelcomePage=True NO LUCK

SkipUserOOBE Value is True...no sure how to setup here...

Means that you need to update you settings package after you have edited the unattend file.

ok, re deploy to Dps all customize files (modified unattend.xml).

so now it back to original error:

sccm 2007 sp2 r2, windows 7 64 bit, all dell shop.

I created an image, uploaded it to sccm. I can deploy to 12 other dell model systems fine, but on the latitude E6420, I get this error during the after os Installed and setup windows and configure.

“Windows could not parse or process the unattend answer file for pass [specialize] The settings specified in the answer file cannot be applied. The error was detected while processing settings for component [Microsoft Shell Setup]”

So it does install OS and restart computer, after os setup is applying system settings, i get this error.

so, i have fixed this issue.

Boot off from WinPE USB DISK. Got setupacl.log file. it was error COMPUTERNAME: failed to set computer name"

Even thought my TS has %OSDCOMPUTERNAME%=%ASSETTAG%

So run wmi query against TS and use TRIM() function in there. Reimage computer, wala...
