Hey guys,
I recently upgraded my PC with includes everything expect the harddrive and DVD drive, Now, I've tried to activate my Windows 7 Pro Product key but it tells me its in use already and that i cannot use it. I had to reformat my HDD when upgrading because of new MOBO and Old Mobo comp issues.
I rang your customer service a few times, The first when i explained the issue she asked for the CD key and once given she replied with sorry sir i cannot help you and hung up. The second time i rang again, Put through to the same Tech and she hung up on me when she noticed it was the same guy as before. Now i rang again and i was told by that your services aren't working 100% and to call back later.
I need this issue resolved asap i would like to use My windows 7 Pro.

This forum isn't a good way to directly contact Microsoft. Most of the people who try to offer advice are amateurs with no connection to Microsoft. (Me, for example.)
If it's a full retail license, you can transfer it. If the online activation didn't work, you should be able to activate it by telephone.

or run the command "slui 4" to go straight into telephone activation. You may be able to complete the activation at the automated response level. If that fails, you'll speak with a Microsoft rep.
You can also transfer a retail upgrade license, but you're supposed to install that over an older qualifying OS. There are ways to install an upgrade license on a blank hard drive, but we aren't permitted to post links to them here.
I get the feeling that there's something you aren't telling us. If your license is an OEM one, you're not permitted to transfer it. You may not get much help if it's a blacklisted license, either.
My apologies if you're completely legit, and ran across a difficult support person.

yeah I figured that but rather then just getting Nothing from their tech i thought id post up here.
basically I rang up again and the tech said i had to call another number which was the number i had JUST rang. Its pretty stressful at this stage. I'm gonna attempt to contact them again now.
Not permitted to transfer it? In what terms? all I've done is upgrade my PC and i expected to be able to use my old Windows 7 Product key as the old PC was formatted thus has nothing to do with my product key?
It shouldn't be a blacklisted license, I bought this key with my old PC and i still have the case it came in with the Product key sticker on the back. I'm just stressing out , The last thing i wanna do is have to buy another Windows 7 Product when i already have it.
Thanks your reply mate!
