Answered Repeated Updates using Windows Update

    Hi

I am asking for help here as the problem keeps happening despite the measures I have taken.

I am having updates repeatedly installing every day for the last few weeks. Oddly since the latest IE vulnerability went public.

The updates successfully install but still appear on the new updates list directly afterwards.

    The updates in question are:

Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 4 on XP, Server 2003, Vista, Windows 7, Server 2008, Server 2008 R2 for x64 (KB2656351)

Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 4 on XP, Server 2003, Vista, Windows 7, Server 2008, Server 2008 R2 for x64 (KB2600217)

To try and solve this problem I have stopped the update service, deleted the appropriate content and restarted the update service. I have also performed an in place upgrade to try and repair the installation to see if that had an effect.

None of these seem to have helped. Is anyone getting these problems?

    System:

    Windows 7 Pro X64 SP1Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600, 4GB Ram.

What did the log files say? (eg. C:\Windows\KB2600217.log)

There are no specific logs for the two KB's but there is a WindowsUpdate.log but it is too big to post here.

    Hi,

Based on my research, please try the steps in Windows Update or Microsoft Update repeatedly offers the same update and see how it works.

If issue persists, this issue can be caused by a damaged .NET Framework component. Therefore, you may need to repair .NET Framework 4 or remove and reinstall .NET Framework 4.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi,

This definitely is an odd case. Is there no one else experiencing this problem.

I repaired the .NET Framework but it still offers the updates.

I will update again when I uninstall completely.

    Hi Again

Thankfully it looks like the complete removal and reinstall has fixed the problem.

    Thanks for your help.
