Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error

Wednesday, January 14, 2009 5:40 PMI am running Vista Ultimate with Service pack 1, on a Intel dual core with 4G of ram
I can do a clean install with no problems, but when I try to up grade my Vista Ultimate
when the update is near the end, I get a blue screen that then a messahe that the install has failed
I receive the following errors:
Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x80070652: 2007 Microsoft Office Suite Service Pack 1 (SP1).
Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x80071a90: Update for .NET Framework 3.0: x86 (KB932471).

Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x80071a90: Security Update for Windows Vista (KB938123).
Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x80071a90: Update for Windows Vista (KB931099).
Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x80071a90: Update for Windows Vista (KB933360).

I removed all the updates listed above and office suite 7, when trying to do the update again, I get a message about email, when I click on next, it goes back to the install window
any idea?

It may well be the case that the timestamps are during the timeframe you were allegedly installing Windows 7, but the cited log entries are most certainly from attempts to install updates to a Windows Vista operating system. While I have no doubt you may be experiencing issues doing an upgrade to Win7Beta from Windows Vista Ultimate, the log entries you posted have absolutely nothing to do with that process.
