    Windows 7 x32 installation stop after checking the disk that has no driver found to continue with the installation. My Pavillion notebook has a Intel(R) 82801GBM   SATA AHCI Controller (Mobile ICH7M) where even I reload the specific driver files through USB stick could not complete the installation process. Any ideas or further support will be highly appreciated. Thanks

    Is the loaded driver indicated as compatible with Windows 7? From HP website I cannot find such drivers. You may contact HP support to confirm.

    If HP indicates that no Windows 7 compatible driver is available, you may need to change the ATA transfer mode to Standard IDE as a work around.

    I believe this is the latest (Win7) inf utility for your m/b chipset:   INF Update Utility - Primarily for Intel® 5, 4, 3, 900 Series Chipsets

    You might also want to look at this:   Mobile Intel® 945 Express Chipset Family

    It is unclear to me why you'd need this prior to doing a clean install.  You didn't give much detail.  Anyway, there it is.  Good luck!

    Hi ;

    Many thanks for the interest.

    I had used the drivers indicated in the following web address http://techrepublic.com.com/5208-6230-0.html?forumID=101&threadID=220783&start=0 and later verfiy from the HP official web site for the Support & Drivers section.

    Whence; Win 7 can not find any drive to install ,indeed I had done what you had advised ''as  change the ATA transfer mode to Standard IDE'' as a work around (from the BIOS settings), but this also did not help.

    So after; I had gparted the drive and install the Win7 as a dual boot. Though the performance was not that great as I had around 1GB RAM. But having a single install of Win7 was not possible ( was utilising the RC release ,don't know if the RTM makes a difference?)

    But the question tackles in my mind as the other replier to this thread asks ''why I'd need this (injecting dirver) prior to doing a clean install''; my expectation was that Win7 will add its own SATA drivers or accept the one supplied by the 3rd. party vendor to continue with the installation. It is a bit astonishing that Win7 installation process stop on a well known brand PC like HP Pavillion series..even the Win7 can install itself on no-brand systems very easily.

    Hope the problem is more clear now.
