  Hi,

  Please refer for Windows update cannot currently check for updates because the service is not running. You may need to restart your computer

  Please check Windows Update service's running status, make sure it is automatic. If not, change and start it. Then all work, if you received any error message, please post them here.

  • run sfc /scannow
  • run chkdsk /r /f
  • Install the System Update Readiness Tool for Windows 7: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947821/
  • Reset Windows Update Components:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058

  it is a common problem after replacing the laptop hard disc and restoring factory image , just update inter rapid storage driver and every thing will work

  here I found a solution , it is a common problem occur while replacing the HDD and factory image re-installation , just update intel rapid storage
