I had Xp Home. I installed a custom/clear install of Win 7-64, with win XP saved as win.old
I wanted to install XP Home on a separated drive (Maxtor 80GB), it installed Ok but does not show up as bootable in Win 7, msconfig.
In my computer, the drive used for windows 7 64 is a SATA (WDC), and the drive for Windows XP Home is PATA (Maxtor). They are both recognized by my BIOS, however under which drive to boot 1st, 2nd, etc. I can only see one or the other but not both. So I can't set C:\ Windows 7 to boot 1st and Windows XP to boot 2nd. Only one or the other.
Both drives are active, NTFS.
Is the fact that the drives are different, SATA vs PATA causing my problem.
Should I have added Windows XP to one of the other partions on my SATA (WDC 320GB)?
Thanks,
Al
