Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit SPI; keeps restarting and won't install
-
Wednesday, February 13, 2013 5:31 AMI'm installing Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, via a thumb-drive, and the setup went fine up until the installation, which said that "Your computer will restart a few times during the installation." After almost two and a half hours of constant five-to-ten-minute cycles of entering the information, installing and rebooting, there doesn't seem to be any progress occurring. What's the problem?

Most likely there is a problem with your USB thumb drive.
What steps did you use to make the thumb drive?
Have you tried redoing the thumb drive?

Wednesday, February 13, 2013 9:45 PMThe drive was new from the box when I installed Windows on it, and I downloaded the Digital River ISO version from online before using the USB/DVD download tool to convert it. I'm deleting and re-converting the file to the USB drive now, and will write back if the problem repeats.

The problem turned out to be with the USB; something was jamming the cable leading to the drive during construction of the PC, and a rerouting fixed the problem.- Marked As Answer by GreenGreenMan Thursday, February 14, 2013 4:13 AM
