    If you want to use external eSATA or USB hard drives and use 2 or more, there is nothing stopping you from doing it.  If you are going to do this I recommend you do a full backup with image each time so you have all your system and data in one place on each and every drive you use.

    You can even do it with 3 or more dives mounted internally and designate which drive you want to back to up to each time.  Do not back up to the system drive (usually C:) as someone discovered the backup becomes recursive and keeps getting bigger and bigger each time you do this because it included the previous backup in the current backup.

    How to create and save multiple image backups:
    How you can use Windows 7 Backup and Restore to create and store multiple image backups to a USB drive that has limited

    free space. This article is based on a Windows 7 user who asked why backup and restore does not maintain multiple versions

    of system images as advertised.

    @J W Stuart

    That is not the Problem I have.

    -----------------------------

    @Rick DEE

    I will be a little more detailed:

    My Setup:

    1 PC with Windows 7.
    2 external USB Harddrives with each 1 TB.

    I want that this 2 external Harddrives will rotate. Means, that when I leave the Office in evening I change the HDD and take the otherone with the newest Backup with me. In Windows 2008 Server it can be configured that the Backup rotates to 2 HDDs, but not in Windows 7. How can I solve this for Windows 7?

    Apparently that capability is not inherent in Windows 7.

    Here is one solution I found searching the internet: http://www.networksteve.com/windows/topic.php?TopicId=14082

    Hi,

    Since there’s no internal tool from Microsoft can active your purpose, third party tools maybe an option. But you’d better backup your personal file regularly for third party tools may lead unexpected issue.

     If you have any trouble with Acronis, you can contact Acronis support for further help:

    Thank you for your understanding.
