    Hi Terry1938,

    Thank you for your update.

This issue should be caused by the installation disc includes an answer file, which is not suitable for your computer.  We do not have a way to bypass the answer file during installtion. To resolve this issue, we need to remove this file from installation media. It's a complex solution. Given the situation, I suggest you contact Tesco support to ask an installation disc without answer file.

However, you can do a custom install as a workaournd. I understand that you are not familar with it. I would like to share an official guide for you. You can print it first and do a custom install step by step.

    Hi Terry1938,

Could you please let me know where you get the installation disc? By default, a retail upgrade disc do not have an answer file.

In additon, have you typed product key before error message?

    Thanks.

Hi,  thanks for reply.  Disc came from Tesco.  Initially installation started fine. Got to "setting up desktop" then suddenly got message "incorrect product key in unattend answer file"  I had put in the product key earlier in the sequence as it asked.  Rang MS tech help - one and a half hours later gave up as it was a total waste of time and money.  Rang Tesco and got a new update disc and tried again, but no matter what I try to reboot I get the same message re this unattend answer file.  If I try to reboot normally I get my desktop background and then nothing else happens no matter how long I leave it.   I then rebooted in safe mode with networking and I get some programs which is how I can do this.  But no antivirus, sound, update facility, back up and no doubt others I do not yet know about.  I have seen some suggestions to try  custom instal,  alter BIOS set up, or click "setup.exe"  none of which I feel confident I can do. I have W HP and checked online with MS advice tool and it said ok for inplace upgrade.  Now I am stranded,  I have no Vista and only part of W7 and no matter what I do it comes back to "unattend answer file" stopping any progress.  I hope you may have some suggestions.  I am 71 by the way, and semi used to the basics of comp use.  Thanks  Terry
