This would usually be caused by not having a driver for the hard drive controller. If you have the controller set to either the RAID setting or the AHCI you probably need a driver for that setting.
It is really difficult to tell you what is really causing your problem since you have not elected to share important information about your hardware and and how it is configured, especially some of the BIOS settings.
No crystal balls here and I don't think there are very many psychics that frequent these forums.

I don't understand much of the above. Please tell us exactly how you
are trying to install it. Are you booting from the Windows 7 DVD?What does "choose which drive to choose from" mean? Please provide the
exact verbatim text of the message. Also please provide the exact verbatim text of the message "no drives
found."

Friday, July 16, 2010 3:00 AMThe HD is detected in bios and in other tools just the windows 7 installer. Im using GIGABYTE 890GPA-UD3H, and im using SATA HD.. well the only problem I think is that when it comes to the point when you click install now, and let you choose the partition where you want to install the OS. theres no drive showing.

You still have not told us how the controller is set in the BIOS! Is it set to IDE/SATA, AHCI, or RAID? When the setup asks for drivers, do you have the AMD drivers on a USB stick for the system to read?We know your Win 7 setup can't find the hard drive and you are not helping by not answering questions!!!!

According to your problem description, you might first remove all unnecessary hardware devices from the box; then download and run Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor to test whether your computer is compatible with Windows 7 OS, which might provide you the general troubleshooting steps of some known incompatibility issues.
The OP plainly states it is a brand new system and he is trying to install Win 7 - there is no OS on the system! How is he supposed to run the Upgrade Advisor without an OS to run it from? Also, if you check out the specs for his motherboard, it is Windows 7 compatible!
1. Upgrade BIOS to the latest version and then reset it to the default manufacturer settings.
2. Change the hard disk type in BIOS.
In BIOS there should be an option which says SATA Controller mode (or something similar) try changing the options to AHCI (Advanced Host controller Interface) or IDE mode.
3. Unplug and re-plug the HDD on the motherboard.
4. If the setup wizard still does not recognize the hard drive, you need to download the right driver from the official website and load it while installing the system.
