Can't Stream To Samsung TV
- I just got a new Samsung LN46B750 TV. On the PC side I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate (RTM).
The Samsung sever app does what it says it will do, although it's not terribly exciting.
I would like to be able to stream from Media Player (and, ultimately, Media Center). Media Player can see the TV but the TV does not see Media Player when I try to Play To. MP gets hung with a message "Contacting Media Server".
(The TV has the latest firmware updates.)
Can someone tell me what I need to enable to make this work???
Thanks,
Bob Cohen

can you try a mp3 file? if the dvr-ms is content protected, it will
not work and generate an error. (not wma, pls try mp3)On Mon, 26-Oct-09 06:11:36 GMT, Bob Cohen wrote:

mp3's work. WMA files do not. non protected dvr-ms files work. MS
told me that this is a bug on the Samsung side. Samsung does not
seem to want to fix it.here is how mine is set up

Barb Bowman www.digitalmediaphile.comYes, you may need to contact Samsung to see if the issue can be resolved. Also, please also check if the TV is DLNA certified.
Sean Zhu - MSFT- Hi Barb.
Yes, I read your article earlier but there was nothing in it that I hadn't done (at least, I don't think so). The PC sees the TV but not vice-versa.
Also, I tried streaming a dvr-ms file via their server and via a USB key and the TV didn't see it at all.
It's like it doesn't have an up-to-date version of DLNA on it, but I'm not sure how to check that. (As far as I know, it has the latest firmware on it).

Bob Cohen - Yes, it is DLNA certified, but I don't know for what version.

- No go on MP3 either.
WMP just sits there with the message "contacting media server..." and the TV doesn't see the PC as an input source.
(BTW, it does see Orb as a server.)
Bob
Bob Cohen - if the TV doesn't see the TV as an input source, let's check your
network
are you using a third party firewall?
how is your network configured? what router?
what are the IP addresses of the tv and computer?

Barb Bowman www.digitalmediaphile.com - The PC is using the standard Windows 7 firewall. I have tried it with the firewall turned off.
The router is a D-Link 655. Both the TV and the PC are connected via DHCP. The TV is at 192.168.1.198 and the PC is at 192.168.1.199.
There is a Windows Home Server on the LAN, but neither of these units participate in it. (Two other PC's on the LAN are tied to the WHS.)
Bob
Bob Cohen - what firmware are you using?
Firmware 1.32NA 7/20/2009
Revision Info: ¤ Fix when disable DHCP server and enable DHCP
server, LAN PC cannot get IP.
¤ Fix using wireless client to configure Access Control rules, cause
DUT reboot.
¤ Fix UPnP bug.
¤ Disable CAPTCHA by default
note the comment on a UPnP issue..
I'm using a DIR-855 with 1.21 which has a UPnP fix as well.

Barb Bowman www.digitalmediaphile.com - 1.32NA 8/27/2009.
I have uPnP enabled (as well as Enable Multicast Streams). Any other settings I should be looking for???
Bob Cohen can you try a couple of things?
1. do the Yahoo Widgets work on this TV or do they time out?
(you may have to set up a yahoo login on the pc first if you
don't have one2. Did you set up an address reservation for the TV on the
router?3. can you check that all your TV HDMI inputs are working to rule
out a bad motherboard or other issueOn Fri, 6-Nov-09 02:46:55 GMT, Bob Cohen wrote:

Barb Bowman www.digitalmediaphile.com- So this is interesting!
I did an address reservation for the TV and the whole thing worked ... with my laptop! But still not my desktop!
The only two differences between the machines that I know of are:
1) The laptop is running Windows 7 Ultimate RC while the desktop is running Windows 7 Ultimate RTM.
2) The laptop participates in the WHS setup while the desktop doesn't.
Do either of these tell you anything?
(I guess I can try putting the desktop into the WHS setup, although I won't be able to get to that for a day or so.)
Bob
Bob Cohen try address reservation for the laptop and the desktop as well
everything on my network has address reservation at the moment
WHS should not have anything to do with thisOn Sat, 7-Nov-09 01:09:49 GMT, Bob Cohen wrote:

Barb Bowman www.digitalmediaphile.com- (Got wrapped up with receivers and speakers all week...still an unresolved issue!)
I put everything on reserve and now the TV can't even see the laptop.
I'll probably start pulling things off of reserve one-by-one to see if that brings anything back.
