Answered Media Center Images Display Freezes during playback.

I've been running MC for years and have accumulated tens of thousands of images and audio files.  As my library has grown I've discovered a constant issue on my MC pc.  While thumbing through images the controls will simply freeze for 1-2 minutes and then recover as if nothing had happend.  Then I run through 10-15 more images and then it freezes again.  I've tried deleting the database file "mcepg2-0.db" and let it re-build (note the size of the file had grown to > 50mb).  I thought it was just the images but I also get the same issue when scrolling or navigating the audio listings.

Ironically I've never seen similar issue during playback of recorded TV.

    Configuration:

    Windows 7 Ultimate 32 Bit (SP1)

    System:

    • AMD Athlon II X2 245 (2.9 Ghz)
    • 2GB Ram
    • 1 TB Drive array (4 x 250 GB Raid 0)
    • Display adapter NVIDIA GeForce 7950 GT

    Hi,

According to your description, I suggest to perform these tests to troubleshoot the issue:

1 Update display card driver to the latest version, also update chipset and BIOS

2  You may try to reset the Windows Media Center to have a try. Below are the following steps for your reference.

    • Open Control Panel, point to Program and Features and hit it, then click Turn Windows features on or off.

    • Expand Media Features.

    • Uncheck check box for Windows Media Center.

    • Click Yes to continue when prompted with dialog box.

    • Click OK to remove WMC and WMP, and quit.

    • Restart computer.

    • Open Turn Windows features on or off again.

    • Check (tick) the checkbox for Windows Media Player and/or Windows Media Center.

    • Restart computer.

3   Windows Media Center will be reinstate and reset. Launch Windows Media Center, and re-initialize the program.

If the issue persists, you may try to logon with Clean Boot for test.
