WMP12 Contstantly Updates
- I have a laptop with Win7 Ultimate x64 and and a Winows home Server (WHS) on my home network. I noticed when I first launched WMP12 it auto connected to my WHS box and started updating the WMP12 library. I though this is really cool. Well now everytime I launch WMP12 while on my home network it always updates.
To stop this behavior, do I just stop the WMP12 sharing service in the Services Window in Win7? the option is now gone in the Options menu in WMP12 or I am overlooking it.

Disabling the Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service can disable the feature to sync sharing files, but I have another suggestion to recommend.
I suggest you refer to Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network and Sharing Center\Media streaming options, then block the media sharing from your WHS.

I am at work right now so I cannot connect my laptop to my WHS (I have remote access disabled on my WHS) , but this looks like it might just be what I need. I'll give it a whirl tonight. - greetings,
i was having the exact same problem but i found what seems to be the fix for now, my library contains at least 8 gbs of pictures and about 80-90 gbs of music so it was really getting anoying.
what i did was , i disabled the get information for the internet, under the library options.
under library managment, i chose the exact files where my music, picture and videos are.
as a default you have c:\users\(yourname) this keeps updating continiusly as the app folder , internet temp folders and just about everything you do will be there.
so i made it c:\users\(yourname)\mymusic , \mypictures, \myvideos ..respectively..that means youll have 3 folders to be monitored instead of all the files and folder under your username, also add any other folder that contains your music, pictures or videos, i explain the simple one but i keep my music all over the place as depending to where i get it from, e.i. itunes folder, limewire library and so forth. i've also disabled the keep my ratings global, i dont think it has anything to do with it but just in case you'd like to try it.
now when i open my wmp12 it takes about 10 seconds before i get the update complete check un the right bottom corner. hope this helps , if you need more explination feel free to email me at kv0ne2kx@gmail.com
