Home Group Rights Problems
-
Monday, June 18, 2012 12:53 AMHave two LapTops and one PC on a WiFi network. All belong to the same Home Group. One laptop to PC is fine, PC to that laptop is fine, Laptop To Laptop is fine. PC to other Laptop is the problem. From the PC to the Laptop you can see the Laptop "Documents" folder, but can not open it. Can also see other folders that have HomeGroup RW access set. Can't access them, error message, "you don't have rights to this" etc.. This has worked, but stopped. Have removed LapTop from HomeGroup and re added, some days it works, then it stops again.. By assigning "Everyone" with full rights it is allways good, but the preferred method using Homegroup is a real problem. The Homegroup troubleshooter doesn't fix it.. Where to from here?

Resources visibility depends on network properties configuration, namely if some ports are opened. Access rights is another level of problem and depend on the fact that user account is known locally to the target computer.
Compare settings side by side to pinpoint differences.

Hi ,
This issue can also relate to your security settings. You may temporarily disable the Windows firewall and third-party firewalls and check.
