Tuesday, October 09, 2012 12:18 PMHP 2500L PCL6 networked (from a Windows 2003 server) printer cannot be connected to a Windows 7 x64 laptop. Driver cannot be found. If I load as if it is a local printer, I can load a color laserjet 2500 PCL 5 driver., but still Windows Update does not find a driver for the network printer. If I manually point the printer install program to the .inf file from the driver installed as if local, it errors with cannot find a driver for your printer. There is no PCL 5 driver offeedr by HP. Tried loading a Universal PCL 5 driver (on the server), but that does not print properly and WIndows 7 laptop still cannot link to it. Is the problem the difference between PCL 5 and 6? If yes, is there a PCL 6 driver available for Windows 7. If not, any suggestions as to how I might link to networked printer??

Tuesday, October 09, 2012 3:02 PMThe problem is you need to 64 bit driver for the windows machine. More than likely the driver you are trying to install is 32 bit

Hi,
According to this link: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=18972&prodSeriesId=81954&swItem=lj-7645-4&prodNameId=81971&swEnvOID=1005&swLang=8&mode=4&idx=2
HP have not released a Windows 7 driver for your printer. Please contact HP to obtain the compatible driver for Windows 7 64 bit.
