I can not have different settings from PUBLIC and WORK or HOME. If I change something in PUBLIC and then SAVE CHANGES when I get back there the WORK or HOME gets the same settings and vice versa.

    What it the deal here?
    Running Win7 x64 RTM

    Hi,

Actually, some of options in "Public" profile and "Home or Work" profile are the same, such as "Public folder sharing" and "File sharing connections". If you change "Public folder sharing" option in one of profile, the settings in another profile will be changed to the same automatically. This symptom is by default.

Meanwhile, only several options can be modified separately, such as "Network discovery" option.

    Thanks,

    Novak

I would like to set it so that the PUBLIC has passwords on shares and the PRIVATE is passwordless. Is that not possible?

The "Password protected sharing" option is also sync in each network profile. After changing the option in one profile, the option in another profile will be changed automatically. Please understand that the computer can be in one network profile at one time. After changing to a new profile, you need change relevant settings every time.

    Thanks,

But I am running ICS which means 2 NICs. So I would like that the PUBLIC network which is connected to internet socket-NIC1 would be password protected and the PRIVATE network should be passwordless-NIC2. So any computer that I hook up to the switch can access shares on this PC without passwords.
