    Hi,

    My environment is:

    Server 2008R2 NPS RADIUS

    HP E-MSM460 Access Points

    HP MSM760 controller

    Toshiba NB500 netbooks

    PEAP-MS-CHAPv2 authentication.

The normal wireless connection process is:

    1. Computer connects to wireless as itself.
    2. User authentication is now possible against Active Directory.
    3. After authentication the users roaming profile downloads.
    4. Users desktop comes up.
    5. Users AD login script begins running.
    6. Shortly after this point the computer disconnects from the wireless and reconnects as the user.
    7. Randomly on different computers the computer connects successfully to the wireless (as far as the server, AP and client are concerned), but the computer is unable to ping the LAN (it has a DHCP IP address though). Since everything believes it was a successful connection there are no error messages to debug.
    8. A manual disconnect /reconnect will sort the problem out. But by this stage the login script has failed and shares are not connected, resulting in the user having to logout and back in to rerun the login script.

This is in school room environment where we may have up to 30 users logging in at the same time. Out of 30 computers this may happen on 2-8 each time. It is definitely more likely to happen under this kind of load, though it sometimes happens when only one computer is logging in.

The computer can ping itself on the DHCP address but that's as far as it can go.

    Does anyone have any thoughts??

    thanks in advance!

    Hi,

I suggest you double checking your configuration by referring to Configure Wireless Clients running Windows 7 and Windows Vista for PEAP-MS-CHAP v2 Authentication

    Thanks Kim,

I suspect the wireless config is correct since it works 95% of the time (I could probably recite that page off by heart!).

    Hi,

As the issue is not caused by the wireless configuration. It should be more related to script.

For script related issue or request, it is recommended to post the thread in Scripting Forums.

In case anyone comes across this.

The issue is caused by the Access Point. Working with HP to get a firmware update.

Any idea what the problem with the AP is? I have a very similar problem but we use Aruba wireless.

Got a fixed firmware from HP - not a public release.
