I can't click anything on my desktop

Hello, i recently had a virus and it prevented me from opening most applications, i installed 2 programs onto a flash drive and then onto my computer to fix the problem.
The virus is gone, and so are the new programs, but I was still having problems opening applications (i could click on the applications and they would get a border and check mark, but would not open.) so the next thing I did was open task manager and check processes.
I had renamed one of the antivirus programs to "explorer" so it would not be blocked by the virus, and then stopped the "explorer" process. But it was windows explorer...
Now every time i start my computer i can't click anything on my desktop or in the start menu (they get no border or check mark) I think stopping the explorer process was where the problem started.
any help with this issue, or the inability to open an application, would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
It seems there are some files damaged by the virus , please run SFC command to see if it could fix this problem.
Also, try to test with a new account:
create a new user account windows 7
